Slow Cooker French Dip-Easy Dinner for Activity Packed Nights

This is one of those meals I make when I know we have basketball or football or baseball during the time I would normally be cooking.
It is a meal you can throw together in 5 minutes if you do a little planning ahead.

In the morning, put a roast in your slow cooker on low.

Pour a packet of  Lipton Onion Soup Mix over the roast.

Pour any red wine you may have left over (half cup to a cup) and a cup of water over the roast.
Or just water is fine too.
Then leave it alone until it's time to eat.

When you get home from whatever crazy activity you were involved in, put some french rolls in the oven to warm.
You want the outside to be a little toasty and brown and the center to be soft and warm.

Pull out your ramekins for the au jus.

Shred the roast in the crock pot and stir in with the juices.
Cut open your rolls and put the shredded roast in the bread.
Pour a little au jus in each ramekin and serve.
I usually do a bagged Caesar salad because it's fast and the kids eat it all up.

They also love dipping their sandwich in the au jus.
And saying- au jus, au jus, au jus.

OMGosh, I think this will have to be my new go-to meal on cheer days! And we will definitely be singing "au jus, au jus, au jus!" as we munch along :))
I'm baaack...ready to catch up with the blogging world :))
Btw, how's your book coming along??

The slow cooker can be a faithful friend in the middle of winter :) My kids love French dip sandwiches too! Sometimes we add a slice of cheddar or jack cheese in the sandwich as well. Yum! Hope you are all staying warm. My in-laws just returned from eastern Montana. 0 degrees. brrrrr! It was 85 out here today!

Just wanted to say that I made this for dinner the other night and even my hubby, who is somewhat iffy regarding french dip in general, LOVED it. Yay! THanks so much for sharing this!!
