In A Cloud Of Smoke

When Little Bear woke me for his five o'clock feeding,

I breathed in the smell of smoke.

It was in our house and with as many fires that we have had in the past in Southern California,

I have never smelled smoke in my home from before.

Hottie Husband turned on the news.

We listened until we knew we were still safe and then turned it off again.

"The moon is red!" Toots and Jackie Boy came in exclaiming at 7:30am.

Hottie Husband explained that it was actually the sun and it was the smoke that was causing it to look red.

We are in a cloud of smoke and ash is falling like snow from the sky.

It's hard to breathe.

It is completely still outside. No wind. No breeze.

And although this is causing it to be a bit eerie out and although it means we are sitting in a cloud of smoke, it also means that it is making it easier for those wonderful fire fighters to fight this fire.

Wow! That is amazing. How scary. I grew up in CA and always knew of the wildfires going on, but never any near enough to me to have ash fall from the sky around me or make the sun red.

Great pictures!

Wow I just read the last couple of your blog entries... That is very scary! Your photos paint a very chilling portrait of what is going on in California right now.

Good luck and stay safe. Please keep us informed.

My those pictures, especially last nights, are scary! (Although my two-year old son LOVED the helicopter hose pic!)

Yeah for still winds! Continuing with prayers...

P.S. Do you have your 12,000 pics backed up to an external hard-drive? If not, you might want to do that as they are so small and compact...much easier to throw into your purse than lug the computer out to the car on moments notice!!!

Wow it looks like the fires have been really close to you! Hubby and I noticed some new ones that seemed like they were by JPL!

The air quality has been horrible, no walks with baby for the last week. I hope you guys have been keeping each other entertained inside.

I am glad the conditions are better for the firefighters at the moment. I'm hoping they get these fires under control and out before too long!

Still sending the best to you and your family. Stay safe!!!
