Yesterday the boys came home and headed straight to the computer.
Not for computer games or Facebook (they aren't allowed on yet) or homework.
No, they had some modifying in mind and pulled up a Youtube video a friend told them about
showing how change up their Nerf gun so that it shoots harder.
Ummm... that's just what we need... a Nerf gun that hurts.
Mister Luke didn't even take off his coat or his hat.
He was on a mission.
And I couldn't help but smile watching the three of them
watching a HOW TO video with such intensity.
Taking it apart, using tools, following directions, working together.
All very educational, right?
They got it all together and something wasn't right.
So, they took it all apart again and fixed the problem.
Then put it back together.
Quiet, concentrated, intent.
And for a woman who has harsh arguments with tangled hoses and
yells at toy packaging,
this kind of patience always impresses me.
It is one of the things I love best about their dad- steady, strong, patient, problem solving.
So, to see it in them, made my heart happy.
Even if it does mean our Nerf guns are now dangerous!

you have some smarties...very determined!
This post cracks me up. What I really liked though was how you saw your husband in what your boys were doing. That really hit home with me. We have little moments of grace as parents. We never know when they're going to come, and they often happen unannounced, but they make being a parent such a rewarding experience.
Gotta love it! Boys will be boys even when they grow up and become men!!
