No Rest Today, It's Ida's Birthday!

It's Ida's birthday!

Who is Ida you are wondering. Well, I am so glad that you asked.

Ida is my mother. Her real name isn't Ida, but that will heretofore (can you tell that I once wanted to be a lawyer?) be her blog name. The name was derived from a night at dinner in a restaurant with my sister's family and mine. Toward the end of the meal, the waiter took away my nephew's not quite finished plate and my mother declared, "Ida had that." It is not her normal proclivity to blend three words into one, so there Ida was born. Not, without some birthing pains in the shape of my sister and I driving my mother a little crazy with our silliness about Ida. Anyhoo, I am going to share the best things about Mama Ida to celebrate the day of her birth.

A Few Things You Didn't Know That You Always Wanted to Know About Ida
  • She is the Queen of All Mother Bears. Unless you are one of my first five fabulous blog readers, you won't know about this post explaining how she is a force to be reckoned with if you mess with her kids.
  • She is the most fabulous cleaner I have ever seen. I sometimes call her and say, "Is the German Cleaning Lady available? I need some help over here with these Yahoos!" Her prices are just so reasonable too- for me anyway!
  • She is a very talented quilt maker. Sometime I'll take some pictures of them for a post. You will love them!

  • She was a single mom for most of her life and did an amazing job making sure that my sister and I always had everything we needed. Looking back now, I realize that when she was my age she was a working single mom raising two girls. It could not have been easy balancing everything the way she did. Great job Mamasita!

  • It is impossible not to notice when she enters the room. First, she is stunning and second, there is just a presence about her that fills a room. She has a beautiful smile.

  • This one will make you love her. As a child, she was rarely hugged or told that she was loved. Her childhood was far from easy. Instead of continuing this pattern, she made sure that my sister and I were hugged multiple times a day and there is not a day that I have ever doubted that my mother loves me. Immensely!

SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY IDA!

Happy Birthday Mom- I love you!
