Sun Rising

Photobucket

This morning I woke up and made a healthy breakfast for the kids instead of having them scarf down cereal like they usually do  and made their lunches and got the gloves and hats and jackets together and off they went to school in Hottie Husband's truck.

Then I sat down to feed Little Bear his breakfast and looked up and out the window. I am not a morning person and so I have seen very few sunrises in my life. But, while it is dreadful, absolutely dreadful to wake up at 7am in the dark yes, it is completely dark , it is quite a treat when the sun begins to rise at 8am. These are photos of my sunrise this morning.

When I looked up and saw it, I smiled.

You see, about a week ago, I started to feel a little down. I am not one who ever gets depressed, but I could feel a touch of it and I started really missing the sun. Turns out my hormones had something to do with it too. As you know, this is our first winter here in Montana and I am used to all the sun soaking of a good California girl.  My buddy Becky over at Farmgirl Paints was writing about here "seasonal" depression this morning, something I didn't know a thing about until now.

I found out that where we live in the Flathead Valley, it has the benefit of much less wind than the rest of the state of Montana. The trade off is that the clouds like to hang around during the winter. Thus, many sunless days. I went out and bought some vitamin D3 supplements for the family to make sure our levels stay healthy.

So back to my smile. I smiled because when I was feeling down about the lack of sunshine, I said a little prayer. I said- God, could you do me a favor? Could you just give me a glimpse of the sun each day of this winter, even if it is just for a moment?

You may not talk to God that way, but I figure it can't hurt to ask Him for a favor like that because although there is so much more for Him to attend to right now in this world, He is still my Father and I am certain he delights in my asking.

So, can I tell you how much fun I am having waiting and looking out for His gift to me each day? I have gotten my glimpse each day. And this morning, it was my morning gift.

So I smiled.

But, please don't think I have forgotten that I have this little package of sunshine to brighten each moment of my day too.

Oh, he's getting so big!!!

I love the sunrise and I love that you asked God to give you some sun each day. Your prayer is just as important to Him as anyone else's is!

The last picture just melted my heart! He is adorable! I could eat him up :))

I lived in Michigan for about 4 months (in wintertime)and I was going nuts. I admire you for moving...I just don't know if I could do it again.

I am such a Texas girl and love Texas WARM weather.

I love that he answered your prayer. I talk to him exactly the same way...he listens no matter how we ask!

What a gift to see that beautiful sunrise. I don't see many myself. NOT a morning person, but I love a good sunset!!

I haven't had my Vit D levels tested, but I do take supplements. I know I should... I just have dragged my feet on that.

So glad God is blessing you with your little sun glimpse everyday. That is my relationship with Him too. Why not talk to him like that. He's our daddy and wants nothing more than to hear from us.

Oh and side note, I made that water recipe you gave. It's a little strange, but it's better than drinking it plain. Thanks for sharing.

If it's any consolation, it's been pouring rain here... no sun yet. Keep taking Vit. D, especially since you're used to all the sun out here! I think you can also get lightbulbs that are more like sunshine? We missed you at baseball tryouts this weekend. This will be the first year we won't have HH for a coach. We're all kinda sad about that. Baseball just won't be the same. Keep us in your prayers for a good replacement! Miss you guys.

I think that talking to our father in heaven is the way to grow closer to Him each day. I love it when he sends us little presents like that. He loves you so much. And I agree, little children are our little sunshine even on gloomy days.
