Oprah's People Contacted little ole me...

The other day I was looking through  my email and saw one with the subject line, "Sarah at the Oprah Winfrey Show." Hmmm... what could this be? A hoax? Silly spam?

When I opened it, I realized it was truly from a producer at the Oprah show. WHAT IN THE WORLD? Sarah said she had read one of my posts and she wanted to talk to me about it. Please call.

Oh, my goodness. I could lie and say that I was all nonchalant about it, that it was no big whoop to get an email from the OPRAH WINFREY SHOW during her last season, but that would be a lie. Because I was seriously like freaking out a little bit. You do know what Oprah can do for writers, right?

Oh yes, Oprah. Please fly me to Chicago to be on your show. Me... blogger and writer extraordinaire.
You can imagine how my mind was spinning.

I called. Left her a message. Of course, I would be delighted to talk to you about my blog post.

While I was in the car, picking up the boys from skiing, she called on my cell.
BOYS- Quiet now, the Oprah show is calling mommy.

She was delightful and kind and knew all about Whitefish (our town) and told me why she contacted me.

I know you are wondering- what post? what post? It was this one about Debbie Downers and Negative Nellies and they were looking for me and a friend that had a generally healthy outlook on life, but with some negative tendencies to come to the show. Not exactly what I was imagining, but still I was up for it. The show was filming on Thursday and Goldie Hawn was going to be there (who I love from Private Benjamin and Overboard) and the theme of the show was going to be Happiness.

Then, I got an email saying they found the person they were looking for closer to the Chicago area.
Booo Hooo! I was almost famous.

But, I am NOT going to let that stop me from delighting in the fact that my blog was even a blip on the Oprah radar.

I just HAD to share that with you.

Wow! How fun just to TALK about it and have the conversation with "her people"! And, of course, they had to call when you were in the car with all the boys! (That was my favorite part of the story, because life just happens like that!) Your time will come, Brigetta :)
