Put Your Shirt Back On Creepy Dude!

Photobucket

First, let me say that I am creeped out that I am putting this dude's picture on my blog.
But, there is a purpose, even a lesson that goes with it.
I am a former teacher, so there is always a lesson.

If you don't know who this guy is, he WAS a Representative in the U.S. Congress until this married father decided to post this bathroom flexing picture on Craigslist looking for a date.
He recently resigned and didn't get a date.
And is now most certainly in the dog house with his horrified wife.

When I saw this story this morning, it reminded me of a conversation I had with my sister a few weeks ago. She has a teenage daughter and is very close with a lot of teen girls.
Apparently, this taking your shirt off and taking a picture of yourself thing is pretty popular with the young adult crowd.
(From our former Rep. up there, maybe it is popular with the adult crowd too.)

It is very common for a boy to meet a girl and then text her a picture of himself after they exchange phone numbers.
And guess what the most common photo that these high school and college age boys are sending?
It is just like the creepy guy above.
They apparently get out of the shower, do a few push-ups (total guess there), fix their hair and then take a shirtless flexy pose.

I am sorry but- Ewwwwwwwww!
Even if you body is perfect boys, that is just creepy.

So, fellow moms of boys- if your boys are in this age bracket, let them know that every other guy out there is posing like our Representative and it would be better to be original and charm the girls with personality and smarts instead of a creepy photo.

Wow! As the Father of two soon to be teenage girls, I am officially disturbed by this trend.

You would be shocked to know that what the girls are sending back is even more gross. Parents-KNOW WHAT YOUR KIDS ARE DOING!

I know Donna. The whole sexting thing is so scary. I am just touching the toes of the monster in this post. The sad thing is that these boys think the shirtless thing is okay b/c their friends are doing so much worse.

They start young too. I teach fifth grade and I've heard about kids doing this. Extremely disturbing - I just keep thinking if this is what the world is like now how will it be when my WeeMan is a preteen.

I have a friend who found a pic of a boy in this "pose" on her daughter's phone. She was so creeped out she dropped her daughter's phone in the pot she was boiling water for spaghetti in! (and it was not by accident!) Not saying that was the perfect response- but I had to chuckle.
