My mom is a cake maker.
And she likes to include the boys in projects.
So, last night was "Let's Make a Rainbow Cake" night.
And it turned out so whimsical and fun that I had to share it with you.
Start with these ingredients.
Pour 24 ounces of Sprite into two boxes of White Cake Mix.
No eggs, oil or water needed.
Just the Sprite.
Take out six medium size bowls and scoop one cup of the cake batter into each bowl.
If any mixture remains, spread evenly between bowls.
Each of the six bowls will contain a different color.
We used food coloring gel instead of drops so the color was very vibrant.
We used blue, red, green, yellow, purple and orange.
Of course, for purple and orange, we had to mix two colors.
You could also use pink.
Once you have your six colors, grease two round cake pans.
I prefer to line the bottoms with parchment paper, but we didn't have any on hand.
Pour one bowl of color into a pan. Then pour a second color and finally the third.
Do not spread out at all.
Leave it just like this.
Take the other three colors and layer in the same way in the other cake pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
The frosting is a large tub of Cool Whip mixed with a large box of vanilla pudding.
Frost the cooled cake and enjoy
your kids faces turn into big happy smiles.
