A Field Trip To Glacier National Park

I'm a field trip mom. I love to go on field trips with the kids because it lets me into their school world, if only for a day. And as a former teacher, I still love the "school world" and getting to know all the kids.

Today was a glorious day in Northwest Montana.
We have endured a looonnnngggg winter. A LONG winter. A LOOONNNGGG winter.
But, today it was clear with no wind at a balmy 75 degrees.
And we were heading to Glacier National Park.
Note- I did not edit these photos a whit. No cropping, boosting or sharpening. These are straight out of my iPhone.

Our lovely park rangers taught the kids about the importance of fire in forestry.
We hiked out to Rocky Point on Lake McDonald.

And then over to the burn area from the Robert Fire of 2003.

We learned how fire clears through the trees, allows in more light, which then produces more growth.

Then we headed back to this spot and sat on the beach for a picnic.

I said to the kids-
Do you have any idea that right now you are sitting in one of the most beautiful places in the world?
But, they don't. Because this is their backyard. It may not be the Getty Museum or a fantastic aquarium.
But, Glacier National Park is an amazing place for a field trip.

Now THAT'S a field trip. I love field trips. One of my favorite parts about being a stay at home momma!

Brigetta and your family are so fortunate to live in Montana. Such natural beauty, a great place to raise children, away from all the craziness. It is truly breathtaking
