A Rough Few Days

The sun came out and it really started to warm up on Wednesday when I took the pictures of Little Bear. We were all excited to have a few days outside because we had had a couple of chilly weeks. That afternoon Toots came home and was acting sleepy, then vomited. I thought- here we go, 24 hours of this and hopefully it doesn't plow through our family.

So far, I got one of those things right. Nobody else has caught it dare I say that, but this poor little guy has lost 5 pounds. Five pounds that he did not really have on his body to lose. The vomiting and diarrhea I just had to look up  how to spell that word  didn't stop after 24 hours like it normally does. He could not keep anything down. His lips became chapped, his mouth parched, he was begging me for water, but the water was making him sick. He could only keep down small amounts of Pedialyte, but he didn't want it because of the taste. It was so sad.

Yesterday morning, he woke up and vomited again. Still unable to keep anything down. So, I drove him to the emergency room and spent the entire day there while they ran tests on him for a possible appendicitis. It wasn't his appendix. The upside was that they gave him an IV and he got some fluids back. They also gave him anti-nausea medication.

Last night, after four days inside on the couch, he stood in my kitchen and ate watered down broth. And he kept it down.

I have more details, but I just wanted to let you know where I have been. I don't really know how other mom's blog when their child is ill. I can't seem to get anywhere near the computer.

Oh poor baby...that's just awful! Nothing worse than that kind of flu. I've had it many times in my life and it's always very extreme like that. Praying for your little one and that the rest of you don't get it!
