3-D Overload

Remember the days when you didn't have to wear glasses in the movie theater?
When your very own eyes worked perfectly to watch the screen?
When you didn't have to keep cleaning the lenses of your five year old's glasses because he just couldn't keep his hands off them after dipping them into popcorn and candy?

Or do you remember the days when you didn't have to shell out three more dollars per person just to watch a kids movie with these special REAL 3-D glasses?
Granted, they are better than the paper ones and make me feel like I am wearing 80's style Ray-Bans without the dark tint, but is it necessary to make EVERY SINGLE KIDS MOVIE in 3D?

My kids are even sick of it.
For a while, the theaters offered both options, but that must not have been cost effective because it seems there is no longer a choice.

I feel like the executives are saying-
If you want to see the latest movie, shell out the money and wear the glasses.

Our last foray to the theater to see Gulliver's Travels brought out a collective groan.
Because, really, who needs to see a giant sized Jack Black in 3D?
I love him (think he's hilarious) but I don't love him THAT much.

What do you think of the 3D movie craze?

We went to "Dispicable ME" with 3-D and my kids both took the glasses off halfway through.. .they hate them! I hate them! Yet, you're right... we really don't have a choice!

I wear glasses already...so have to wear the 3D over mine...
What I don't like is having to "buy" the 3D glasses...then at the end of the movie they want you to recycle the glasses back to them...what? I kept mine...afterall...I did pay for them. If they want them back, then give me some of my money back...right?
Keep up the posts!
Love ya,

I've yet to see a 3D movie but I can totally see how the glasses would get old fast!

We're pretty done with it, too...we've been choosing the 2D lately...although hubby and son thought Tron was the best...they went to the midnight movie when it first came out...son went to the 2D a few days later with friends and was glad he'd seen the 3d first...it's the depth they liked, not the wierd idea of things popping out at you.
